Made in Newark: Brick, Beat, Bounce

Join us for an evening of performances, remarks from exhibiting artists and light refreshments at the opening of “Made in Newark: Brick, Beat, Bounce.” This special exhibit, part of Newark Arts Festival, features winners of The Newark Museum of Art’s Battle of the Wards visual art showdown. Artists in attendance include Jay Neyland, Dinka and Maria Gonzalez.
Committed to uplifting local artists, The Newark Museum of Art’s program, Battle of the Wards, is a live one-night program where artists come together to compete. Each artist, one representing each of the five wards, was given 2 hours to complete a painting in front of a live audience. The audience then voted on the winner. This year’s theme was Made in Newark. This collection of works underscores the talented artists that reside in the beautiful city of Newark.
