FEMINIST FUTURES FELLOWSHIP EXHIBITION “ON WOMAN HATING”

October 11 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Project For Empty Space (PES) presents On Woman Hating, the first exhibition curated by Alyssa Alexander, as part of the Feminist FUTURES Fellowship. The exhibition, featuring works by six woman-identifying artists, runs at PES’s 800 Broad Street location from September 10th through December 15th, 2024.

The Feminist FUTURES Fellowship, awarded at the 2024 Badass Art Woman Awards, is an annual honor for femme-identified and non-binary artists engaged in intersectionality and feminist discourse. Launched from the feminist incubator program created in 2017, the fellowship supports critical dialogue, camaraderie, and education within the artistic community, and is manifested through exhibitions, residencies, and events.

Guided by eco-feminist politics, On Woman Hating explores intersections of race, gender, climate change, reproductive rights, and capitalism. The exhibition aims to center the divine feminine in collective activism. It features works by Destinie Adélakun, Ania Freer, Misha Japanwala, Utē Petite, Adrienne Elise Tarver, and V Walton, who address themes such as mythological femmes, religious icons, body autonomy, and the link between femininity and the natural world. The show reflects on societal shifts away from goddess cultures toward patriarchal systems, modern science, and the concept of “mankind.”
