Summer Visual and Performing Arts Academy Student Exhibition: "Unlocking Our Potential"

Join us for an inspiring art exhibition celebrating middle school students’ creative journey in the Newark Board of Education's Summer Visual and Performing Arts Academy. This exhibition showcases the incredible artistic talents of these young minds and will be hosted at the Greater Newark Conservancy, coinciding with Open Door Kids during the Newark Arts Festival. This exhibition features various 2D and 3D artworks, including paintings, prints, and drawings. These creations were crafted during a rigorous five-week intensive enrichment program under the expert guidance of Newark Public Schools' highly talented art educators, Timothy Carr and Sandra Meyer. Student artists immersed themselves in a world of artistic exploration through hands-on instruction and captivating field trips that included visits to the Greater Newark Conservancy and the Newark Museum of Art. These experiences allowed these young artists to engage in social-emotional learning activities, explore various artistic disciplines, and cultivate a profound appreciation for the arts. As you explore the exhibition, you will have the unique opportunity to gain insights into the student’s creative processes and witness their remarkable artistic growth.
