Event poster/Featured Image

Sotto Voce means quiet voice. Commonly it is a notation in music.  In the hands of a Maestro the Sotto Voce moments are compelling, rich, and inform the entire piece. Whether through politics, societal norms, prejudice or simply lack of empathy, there are many who are “sotto voce”.

The 16 participating artists here are challenging us to hear the whispers of the “sotto voce” – women fighting for control of their bodies; the homeless who only want to live in dignity; immigrants from many countries who are unwelcomed or marginalized; children taken from their parents’ arms, or physically/sexually abused, or simply ignored

Featured Artists: Audrey Anastasi, Marina Carreira, David Cubie, Stanley Gavidia, Jackie Lima, Janet Morgan, Kymba Nijuck, Joseph Putrino. Sylvia Padilla, Jae Quinlan, Nomi Silverman, Poramit Thantapalit, Maurice Wallace, Tamara Wyndham, Patricia Seignon
