Craft and Convos I BLAK the Brand

All Al-Munir events for the Newark Arts Festival this weekend, Saturday October 11th and Saturday October 12th,  have been relocated to Greater Newark Conservancy (32 Prince Street, Newark, NJ) due to inclement weather. This venue will allow us to continue offering a dynamic indoor-outdoor experience! On site parking is available if you enter on the Prince St entrance.

Join us for an afternoon experience at Eden’s Farm during the 2025 Newark Arts Festival Close Out with Craft and Convos!

Eden’s Farm – Community Urban Farm and Greenspace led by Al-Munir

Hosted by Craft & Convos with guest activation from BLAK The Brand, this event invites youth, families, and community members to explore collaborative art inspired by the beauty of the garden.

Craft & Convos is a community-based art series, Sunaé Long, designed to engage youth and adults in expressive, collaborative painting; up-cycled art and fashion projects; and dialogue around identity, intention, and creative storytelling.

This art series is inspired by her great-grandmother, Alma Palmer, who hosted themed “craft parties” for her, her sister and her cousins as children, teaching us how to incorporate arts and crafts using everyday items found around the house to make “neat” things.

What to Expect:

Garden Art Workshop – Paint and collage with recycled cardboard, markers, acrylic paint, sponges, and more, guided by local artists.

Interactive Workshops on herbalism, pollinators, food sovereignty, and environmental stewardship by Al-Munir’s leaders and partners

BLAK The Brand Coloring Experience – A mindful space using coloring pages, cardstock, and reflective prompts for self-expression and relaxation.

Experience this one-of-a-kind creative wellness tool by artist and founder of BLAKTHEBRAND, De’jah Monai.

The Phases of Becoming invites you into a gentle and expressive journey through art, sound, reflection, and healing.
