As part of the Newark Arts Festival, EvoluCulture (formerly EVOLVE NJ) celebrates 8 years of its flagship show, Evolution Dopen Mic.

One of the longest running open mic events in Newark, NJ today, Evolution was birthed October 9th, 2014, and continues to hold space for artists and art lovers.

On this night, poet and author Paul Conqueso will be our special guest host with sounds by Delaceiba, and our featured poet of the evening will be Destiny Padilla.

Plus, the EvoluCulture Team—Sean Battle (CEO), Treasure Borde (President), Don Krypton ( General Manager) and the IZM (Brand Ambassador)—will still be in the building.

HOUSE RULES:

—Masks and Proof of vaccination or negative COVID tests required for entry. Temperature checks done at the door.

—Open mic list is first come first served on day of show. 10 slots only.

—Open Mic list does NOT go in order. Remain ready to go at all times.

—Performances will vary in content and vulnerability, thus a show-wide trigger warning is in affect. Please prioritize you own self care

—1 piece per person kept under 3 minutes if a poet, singer, or emcee. All other performing artist must keep their performance under 3 minutes.

—Respect the mic at all times. Side conversations must be taken outside.

—Use the mic at all times to ensure all of differing hearing levels can hear you.

—Racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, mysoginoir, rape culture perpetuating content and/or actions on or offstage will result in immediate stoppage of performance and mandatory exit/ banishment from all EvoluCulture events.
