The 16th Annual Open Doors Citywide Arts Festival kicks off with an exciting solo exhibit from internationally renowned abstract expressionist Danny Simmons, entitled “disRUPT: Newark”. Curated by Noah Kane-Smalls, the exhibit title is inspired by the intersection of tech / art / social impact.
Munchies by Antonio and Fownders Gallery artist/owner Sebastian Ferreira will host the exhibit at his gallery space in the University Heights Cluster.

The Halsey Street South Cluster activates on Saturday, October 14th! Join us as we head down to  City Without Walls in “Lincoln Park After Dark” where celebrated playwright Dr. Ntozake Shange’s famous choreopoem, for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf, will be the inspiration for curator Peter (Souleo) Wright’s exhibition “i found god in myself: a celebration of Dr. Ntozake Shange’s, for colored girls.”  Special meet and greet appearance by Dr. Ntozake Shange!

Get inspired at a a curated conversation on the relationship between art and social impact moderated by Sharnita Johnson, Arts Program Director at the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. Noted panelists include award winning playwright, Dr. Ntozake Shange, internationally renowned visual artist, Danny Simmons, audience diversification expert, Donna Walker-Kuhne and and Chief Technology Officer of Fownders, Anthony Delgado.
